The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care (CoC) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is the largest federal funding process supporting housing and services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Through this program, communities compete annually for resources to address local needs. New applicants are encouraged to apply.
As the designated CoC lead for San Antonio and Bexar County, Close to Home coordinates the local application process, provides guidance to project applicants, and ensures alignment with HUD priorities and community strategy.
This section includes key resources, timelines, and tools to help partners navigate the NOFO process and maximize funding opportunities for our community.
Please note that the CoC Builds FY26 Competition Timeline and YHDP FY24/25 Competition Timeline will vary from the FY26 Timeline.
This timeline outlines the local Continuum of Care (CoC) Program competition process for renewal, CoC Bonus, and Domestic Violence (DV) Bonus funding. It includes key dates for applicant conferences, application submissions, reviews, ranking, and HUD submission.

A Special Notice of Funding Opportunity (SNOFO) is targeted funding released by HUD to address urgent or emerging needs within the homeless response system. Close to Home recently coordinated the local response to a SNOFO opportunity, supporting partners through the application process, sharing guidance, and prioritizing projects that addressed critical system gaps such as unsheltered homelessness, system capacity, and innovative housing solutions.
We are now in the pilot phase of these awarded projects, focusing on implementation, learning, and evaluating impact. This section provides partners with information and insights from this process as we continue to strengthen our response to future funding opportunities.
