Close to Home works to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in San Antonio and Bexar County. As the lead agency for the Alliance to House Everyone, we bring partners together, align resources, and strengthen systems so more people can access safe, stable housing.

We guide communitywide efforts to prevent and end homelessness through shared strategies, measurable goals, and data-informed decision-making. By identifying gaps and prioritizing resources, we help focus efforts where they can make the greatest impact.
The Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is one of Close to Home’s most significant annual initiatives and a key part of understanding homelessness in our community. Required by HUD, the PIT Count provides a snapshot of the number of people experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness on a single night each year.
Close to Home leads this large-scale community effort by coordinating volunteers, outreach teams, service providers, shelters, and partner organizations across San Antonio and Bexar County. The data collected helps inform local planning, funding decisions, and housing strategies while identifying emerging needs and trends. Beyond the numbers, the PIT Count brings the community together around shared solutions and a deeper understanding of homelessness.
Each year, Close to Home releases the State of Homelessness report to provide a broader picture of homelessness in San Antonio and Bexar County. By combining PIT Count results with local system data and trends, the report helps community members, partners, and decision-makers better understand progress, challenges, and opportunities to improve outcomes.
Through tools like Homelink, we support a coordinated path to housing and services for people experiencing homelessness. This helps ensure individuals and families are connected to the right support based on their needs.
